RehabRehabilitation services at Weiss focuses on one-on-one care by highly skilled professionals, resulting in better patient outcomes and superior patient satisfaction.

Through a partnership with Schwab Rehab—the pioneer of rehab in the Midwest—our standard of clinical excellence is unmatched.  Medical direction is provided by a Schwab physiatrist who has specialized training in physical medicine and rehabilitation.  In addition, several of our nurses and therapists have specialty certifications in the rehabilitation field.

The cornerstone of our rehab program is a 26-bed rehabilitation unit for patients who need intensive inpatient rehabilitation.  Typical patients we treat in our inpatient rehabilitation unit include:

  • Orthopedic patients
    • Joint replacements
    • Hip fractures
  • Neurological Patients
    • Acute stroke
    • Parkinson’s
    • Multiple sclerosis
    • Brain injury
    • Myopathy
    • Spinal pathology
  • Amputees
  • Deconditioned and medically complex patients
  • Cardiac patients
  • Pulmonary patients

Outpatient rehabilitation services at Weiss incorporate four disciplines:  Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, and Audiology

Physical Therapy helps patients gain strength and mobility through exercises and activities designed especially for their needs.  Physical Therapy is designed to help restore and maintain optimal physical function, wellness and fitness, and quality of life.

Occupational Therapy is designed to help patients regain maximum independence in the basic skills essential to daily life.  These may include eating, dressing, bathing, or other self-care activities.  They may also include household activities such as cooking and laundry, and leisure interests such as bowling, gardening, or painting.

Speech Therapy (or speech language pathology) targets deficit areas such as speech and language disorders, cognitive impairments, voice pathologies, and swallowing disorders.  These may occur as a result of a stroke, head injury, neurological diseases, head and neck cancer, or general de-conditioning.

Weiss’ Audiology services are designed to help people of all ages, from school-aged children to the geriatric population.  Weiss’ audiologists provide patients with a full hearing assessment to evaluate their ability to hear and understand.  They dispense hearing aids with technology ranging from conventional to the very latest in digital advances.
