Find out if you’re at risk for a stroke, aneurysm or peripheral vascular disease with a three-point vascular screening at the Vascular Center at Weiss. The screening costs only $99 and takes 30 minutes. For more information on the next screening date call 773.564.5770.
Interaction with referring doctors is critical to the mission of the University of Chicago Medical Center's Vascular Program at Weiss Memorial Hospital. The vascular surgeons work closely with each patient's primary care physician to maintain continuity of care.
Some of the many services available include advanced diagnostic procedures that use arterial and venous duplex ultrasound and color-flow doppler as well as conventional arterial waveforms and pressures to evaluate arterial and venous diseases. Preliminary interpretations are available immediately following testing. Final reports can be faxed or delivered within 48 hours. On-site vascular consultations for complex vascular problems also are readily available.
Our vascular surgeons have a dedication to their patients that extends beyond their highly trained capabilities in the operating room. The success of the vascular program relies heavily on a team of multidisciplinary specialists. The group meets frequently to share its expertise in determining the best treatment for each patient.
Our vascular specialists are skilled in a variety of minimally invasive vascular procedures using angiography, balloon angioplasty, stent insertion, endovascular grafting, filter placements and the use of clot-dissolving agents as well as conventional vascular therapy. Vascular Program Director Hisham S. Bassiouny, M.D. is trained nationwide in employing a recently FDA-approved stent graft device for the minimally invasive treatment of aneurysms involving the abdominal aorta below the renal arteries.
