Surgery and The William J. Tannenbaum Ambulatory Surgery Center

The William J. Tannenbaum Ambulatory Surgery Center at Weiss Memorial Hospital is a 12-bed unit dedicated to pre- and post-operative care of patients undergoing general surgery; laparoscopic surgery; orthopedic surgery; cardiothoracic surgery; cardiovascular surgery; plastic surgery; foot surgery; eye surgery; ear, nose or throat surgery; urology surgery; or neurosurgery.

The ambulatory surgery center offers the following services:

  • Outpatient treatment, where procedures are performed under general Surgery Centeranesthesia, regional anesthesia, intravenous sedation or local anesthesia, and the patient returns home the same day.
  • Same-day admission procedures, when procedures are performed under general anesthesia, regional anesthesia or intravenous sedation, and the patient remains in the hospital after surgery.
  • A pre-evaluation program, when the patient undergoes diagnostic testing, an anesthesia consultation or a clinical profile assessment.

Surgeries are also performed in an adjacent suite of operating rooms. Nine suites and a five-bed pre-operation holding area are available.

In addition, a seven-bed post-anesthesia care unit is located adjacent to the operating rooms.
